Deadlines

What has to be filed when?

In tax matters, deadlines are the one thing that can't be negotiated — extended, yes; missed, no. What always applies are the cantonal rules and the deadline on your personal form; in the Canton of Zug some dates differ from those listed here. We monitor every deadline in your file and get in touch before it gets tight.

  • Deadline

    Salary statements to employees

By the end of January every employee receives the previous year's salary statement. Expense regulations, benefits in kind and bonus payments must be recorded beforehand.

  • Deadline

    Deadline extension for private individuals

If you can't file your tax return on time, you apply for an extension before the deadline expires. We submit the application collectively for all clients; all we need is your consent.

  • Deadline

    Provisional tax invoice

The provisional invoice in spring can be adjusted if income differs significantly. Let us know about changes such as retirement or self-employment early on.

  • Deadline

    VAT first quarter

The first-quarter statement is due at the end of May. By then all invoices for the quarter must be posted and the bank accounts reconciled.

  • Deadline

    Tax return for companies

For legal entities with a year-end in December, we usually file by the end of September. We need the approved financial statements and the minutes of the general meeting.

Frequently asked

Questions before signing

These questions come up almost every time the completed tax return is on the table waiting to be signed. We go through the financial statements and the tax return with you before anything is filed. Whatever you don't understand, we'll explain again — a third time too.

What does a tax return cost with you?

A simple tax return with salary, bank accounts and a rented flat costs between 220 and 320 francs including VAT. If properties, securities portfolios or self-employment are involved, the effort is greater. We'll tell you the range before we start.

How long does it take to be finished?

If the documents are complete, we need two to three weeks. In the peak season from February to March it can be four weeks, which is why we extend the deadline as standard. We move urgent cases forward if there is a reason for it.

Which documents do you need from me?

Salary statement, account statements and interest certificates, documents on insurance and pillar 3a, expenses for continuing education and medical costs, plus details of properties. You'll receive a checklist from us to tick off. Whatever is missing, we ask for all at once, not in five emails.

Do I sign, or do you?

You have to sign yourself; responsibility for the information remains with you. We send you the completed return with a summary of the key figures. Only after your go-ahead do we file electronically.

What happens if the authorities have questions?

We answer follow-up questions and requests on your behalf; that is included in the fee for the return. If an objection becomes necessary, we discuss the effort and prospects of success in advance. We can represent you with a simple power of attorney.

Can I switch to you mid-year?

Yes, even with a deadline running. We collect the previous year's files from your current fiduciary or from you and check what is still outstanding. With a switch in March we have already rescued extensions that would otherwise have expired.

Appointment

Appointment for your tax return

Tell us your name, which tax year is involved and whether you are self-employed or own property. We'll propose two appointments within one working day and send the checklist along with them.

For example “next week in the morning” or “Tuesday after 5 pm”.
